Welcome to Wicklow Nature...

Wicklow is often referred to as 'The Garden of Ireland', and has a lot to offer to anyone interested in nature.

Declan Murphy has enjoyed the flora and fauna of Wicklow since he was a boy; from its stony beaches, that offer a home to Ireland's endangered Little Terns, to the oak woods in the Wicklow Mountains, which provide a habitat for the Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Both of Declan's books are set in the woodlands and mountains surrounding the world famous Glendalough valley in The Wicklow Mountains National Park.

His first book, A Life in the Trees, was published in 2017. His second book, Spirit of the River, will be published in April 2021.

Declan is equally at home watching a fox hunting a rabbit as listening to the dawn chorus unfolding across the glens of Wicklow. He has a wonderful ability to express his enthusiasm through his writing and his presentations.
